What is polishing liquid?
What is it?
Buffing is a preparation stage for car painting. The use of a polishing liquid precedes the application of protective coats such as wax, body filler or glass coating.
Why use it?
Over time, the car's paintwork and clear coat develop small scratches, marks and microscopic roughness due to oxidation. Unfortunately, this makes the paint look dull, old and unattractive.
In this situation, polishing liquid is the best solution. This product :
- Gives cars a better look
- smoothes imperfections
- restores radiance.
How do I apply a polishing liquid?
To apply a polishing liquid, there are several steps to follow:
Step 1: prepare and clean
First, clean the car with a microfibre towel. It then needs to be dried very well before polishing.
Step 2: Apply polishing liquid
For this stage, you need:
Apply a small amount of polishing liquid to a cloth or foam pad. To apply, use circular or up-and-down strokes. The key is to follow the contours of the car and rub the clearcoat in until it is almost transparent.
Allow the product to rest.
Step 3: Polishing
Use a clean cloth. Microfibre towels are perfect for this step. Polish off residues of polishing liquid. To do this, make sure you keep folding the cloth to use the clean areas.
When finished, the car will be exceptionally clean and glossy.
Tips for successful application
- You don't need to use a lot of polishing liquid to do a good job.
- Be sure to clean all residues of polishing fluid from around the gaps in the car's panels and joints.
- Some manufacturers have particular and different methods for obtaining the best polishing results. Be sure to read the instructions on the bottle beforehand.
