Application
The application of Standox Standohyd paint includes these steps:
- Prepare the target surface, which must be properly sanded and cleaned before painting.
- Degrease the surface with a water-based degreaser such as Standox Precleaner TB50.
- Eliminate unwanted particles with a 125µ cone filter.
- Effectively thinner paint.
- Apply a uniform first coat using an HVLP spray gun and a 1.2 - 1.3 nozzle, in accordance with the spray gun manufacturer's instructions.
- Wait for the desolvation time required to reach the desired mattness.
- Apply the second coat, increasing the distance between the spray gun and the surface in question.
- Sand the surface again, using a P800, to obtain a good quality finish. You can use a 2.5mm orbit pneumatic finishing sander to avoid certain imperfections, known as "pig tails".
- Apply the appropriate clearcoat to complete the repair.
Precautions for use
It is essential to wear the necessary personal protective equipment during the Standox paint application process, to protect yourself against possible irritation. In particular, you can wear a 3M 50425L reusable or 50198L disposable paint suit, an FFP3 respirator and nitrile gloves.
